I know. It's been a long time. So long that all the little people out there in the dark are CRAVING to know what's happened to JJD. Did he ever make it back from China? (Yes) Has his decorating efforts caught the attention of design blogs everywhere? (No, but he did manage to purchase some vases at a Shanghai shop before it was profiled in Elle Decor) Have the scabs from his recent spectacular bike crash healed? (Mostly) These are all good questions. And I've been wrestling with a question of my own: Is a life unblogged worth living? (I'm not even going to hazard a parenthetical answer to that question; you can discuss amongst yourselves)
Short story is this: The China trip (where I last left you hanging) was terrific, and I have lots of stories and photos to share. But while I was away in China, my boss decided to move to a different role in the company, leaving me to do his job as well as my own. So my workload (and stress) has dramatically increased, and the time I can devote to other things (such as blogging, eating, cycling, dating, backpacking, grilling, hosting awesome family reunions, and planting ferns in my backyard) has dramatically decreased.
All that, plus the fact that Comcast is a complete disaster here in Seattle and has left me with totally unreliable Internet service since the middle of July.
But, FINALLY, I seem to have resolved the Internet problem, and I'm determined to get back into the blogging game. My goal is to catch up on summer highlights a little at a time, and stay current on exciting things as they happen (stay tuned for September!). Posts may be shorter than they were in the past, and I may rely more on photos to tell the story, but hopefully I can manage to keep a record of some of what's happening here in the Emerald City.
More soon!
